AL MELVIN FOR ARIZONA SENATE 2008

Al Melvin is a Republican candidate for the Arizona State Senate in 2008 from Legislative District 26.
Al is a Reagan Republican who is dedicated to helping all of the citizens in LD 26 and southern Arizona . He will work hard to defend traditional American mainstream values. In 2006, Al was narrowly defeated by 455 votes out of over 70,000 cast. He thanks the over 35,000 voters who supported him and he eagerly looks forward to the 2008 election
 
 
 

Originally from Helena, Montana, Al is a graduate of the US Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, NY; The American Graduate School of International Management, Thunderbird Campus, Glendale, AZ; and the Naval War College, Newport, RI.

In 1999, after 30 years of reserve military service, Al retired as a Captain, USNR. One of his last duty assignments was Squadron Commander of MPS 2 at Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean. He had a parallel 35 year career, including 12 years in the Far East, in international trade and ocean transportation, working for three major steamship corporations. Al's merchant marine career included nine years at sea. He holds an unlimited tonnage Masters license issued by the USCG.

Al has been an Adjunct Lecturer for the University of Arizona for four years. He also teaches at the University of Phoenix and Western International University. He teaches courses in international trade, transportation, logistics and economics. He also owns a consulting firm, American Quality International Consulting.
